Seasonal Sundays #82–Blue and White in the Sunroom

Seasonal Sunday Teapot copy
Welcome to Seasonal Sundays # 82.
Matthew's 17th Birthday 114
So now that the holidays are over, including the Epiphany, what are you up to? My house is in a bit of a tumult, as we are defrocking it from the Christmas holidays. Just after Thanksgiving I shared all of my boxes coming down so I knew you didn’t want to see those again.
Matthew's 17th Birthday 121
I’ve been asked to share more photos of my home, and not just my tables, on my blog so today I’m sharing a corner of my sunroom. This post is also in keeping with one of my New Year’s resolutions, to use more of what I have. These vignettes are not new creations, and there’s not a single new item amongst them.  These regularly are a part of my sunroom. I’ve shared some of my tea pots  before, but just a small sampling of them, so today I share a bit more of the collection.
sunroom blue and white 125
This post also follows a theme I started in this week’s tablescape post. I LOVE blue china and have a ton of it. I’ve challenged myself to make each of my tablescapes this month be BLUE. It seems only fitting that my Seasonal Sunday post be BLUE too!
Matthew's 17th Birthday 128
These items have been collected through the years. Some hold some very special sentimental value. The little china lady in her blue dress, orange bonnet and holding a basket, sat atop my Mother’s dresser throughout my childhood.
Matthew's 17th Birthday 136
The little basket weave pitcher was purchased in an antique store while visiting in Austin, Texas.
Matthew's 17th Birthday 131
My Great Aunt Mary, who lives in California,  brought me this little blue and white tea pot from her collection on one of her visits , as she knew how much I love blue and white tea pots.

Matthew's 17th Birthday 137

On my trip this past fall to Brimfield, this coffee pot was added to my collection (Bristol, Crown Ducal, England).
Matthew's 17th Birthday 143

Matthew's 17th Birthday 144 This square bowl was added to the collection, not only for it’s beauty but as I was intrigued by it’s markings. 'Made in France-Saar Economic Union', shows that it was made between 1947 and 1956 when the Saar region was an economic and political union that was part of France. In 1957 the Saar region voted to rejoin Germany.
Matthew's 17th Birthday 146
A bunch of sock darners that were my Nana’s are clustered in this little pitcher.
Matthew's 17th Birthday 130
Some items were purchased…
Matthew's 17th Birthday 133
…just because I like them!
Matthew's 17th Birthday 111
I’m trying to appreciate and enjoy my home more. What have you been up to?
Happy to be joining The Pink Pagoda for her Blue and White Bash!

You do have a wonderful collection of blue and white, and every other color too! I just can't imagine dusting and cleaning all that every week. I would never have time to do anything else!
My favorite is the little basket weave pitcher, so cute! And I remember my Grammy using those sock darners. I say throw out the darn socks and get new ones! :)
Hope you got a lot done. We don't often get to 60 here in NY in January. A true gift!

I don't believe there is any prettier china than blue and white. And using what you have is the way to go in 2012. Lets hope we're not in for a rough one.

All the best for 2012 and thanks for your party each week. I Appreciate you!!!!!

I love your blue and white pieces! I have some small blue and white dishes inherited from my mother marked Occupied Japan. You've inspired me to pull them out of the buffet and display them,

I have a set I've been wanting to use too. Your Mother's china doll is such a treasure. Thanks for sharing your amazing collection, and more of your beautiful home. Thanks for hosting.
All the best in the New Year!

Thanks for sharing some pics of your sunroom and your collections. We had a sunroom in our first house, and my husband and I still miss it (sigh). My dream is to have another in our home some day.

Your collections are so pretty -- I especially like the coffee pots. I think your color theme for January is great; I NEVER tire of blue and white.

Thanks so much for hosting Seasonal Sundays and Happy 2012 to you!

Fun to see more of your blue and white. I smiled when I saw the pieces sitting atop the books by the window. The bay window in the living room holds stacks of books with blue and white pieces sitting on top. I switched things out last spring to have this look and have so enjoyed it that it has remained, even pre-empting the usual little forest of Christmas trees that often sit there in December.
Thanks for hosting! ~ sarah

OMG!! I absolutely love blue and white. I love your collection and the stories behind some of the things.
I am looking forward to seeing more of your house.

When I linked up my post I started to type in the name. Apparently it auto filled something I had linked before and referred to a giveaway. I am not having a giveaway I tried to link up again but could not. Please remove my link and I will re link with the appropriate name.

So sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks so much for hosting the link party. My sister, Reba, and I, are new bloggers. I've linked up some of our tables. As for what we have going on, our big new project is something I have brought upon myself. Our mother's 80th bday is in May and she asked for a big blowout birthday party. Since she never asks for anything, we are working to organize that party for her. Originally, Reba and I were going to let someone else take charge of the tables because it is such a big party, but we have changed our minds. I just attended my SIL's father's funeral who is the same age as my father and I spoke with Reba about some ideas for making the tables more personal with photos and other touches. I want my mother to be in awe of everything we've done for her. I am hoping it will be one of the best nights of her life. I am searching around for any tips on good parties that capture a long life lived (e.g. 50th anniversary parties). I thought I knew how to set a table until I started a blog and saw all everyone else's tables. I am in awe every week at the link parties. Now, I know how much more dramatic, more appealing and just plain better a table can be and I want to soak it all in so the tables at my mom's party will be spectacular.

Thanks for hosting your blog. It is going to be a huge resource for ideas for the party.

There is such clarity in blue which appeals to me. Strangely enough, however, as I think through my cabinets I have nothing in blue and white. Your wonderful pieces make me think I am missing out.

Just beautiful! I just love your window valance, too. Perfect for you from what I am seeing in your posts! We just moved a few months ago and, while I haven't made it a resolution, I am determined to not buy so much this year and use what I've got, too. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and hosting this linky party!

Beautiful blue and white. I have absolutely fallen in love with blue and white this year. I am so enjoying looking at all your wonderful pieces and so wishing I had started loving blue and white years ago but it's never too late to start collecting.

OMG dear Alma!
I've been off the wall. Why did I think you didn't have the party on Sundays anymore??? One of my very fav parties and first parties I joined in my blogging beginnings as you a favorite blogger too! I entered your mailing list so I know when it's up and to know about your gorgeous posts as well.
I'm so sorry sweet friend, and I'm sorry for myself specially! My life has been full of wonderful news like I'm having a new grandbaby and my DD Alex got married quickly and left for Spain to reside. I've had family issues too. I've been thinking and missing you anyway, as so many old bloggers have left. (glad it weasn't you!)
Have a wonderful weekend and see you Sunday for sure.
