Winter Garden

Welcome to The Tablescaper.

This certainly seems to be one of those winters that is never ending.

The romance of Valentine’s Day is packed away, so…

…I decided it was time for a little drama.

Nothing says drama like black.

I’ve had this Ralph Lauren tablecloth and matching napkins for

several years, but had never used it.

It definitely was a bit of a challenge because I couldn’t decide what to

use with it.

That seems laughable now as the choice of the Bordallo Pinheiro, as it

seems so obvious.

I’m calling this tablescape, Winter Garden.

It has all the touches of a garden…

…lots of green…

…and flowers,…

…but certainly there is winter…

…stirring at this table.

Hope you’re making the best of this long winter.

Embrace the quiet time.

Try to pull together something you’ve never done before!

Love this china, I have a few serving pieces of it and I LOVE it with this tablecloth. I have a comforter in a guest bedroom with this same pattern, Ralph Lauren. I am crazy about this pattern. It has so many options whether it be in a bedroom or a table. I didn't even know that it was made in a table cloth. However, I do have some of these sheets that I can use as a tablecloth with plain white china, I never use them with the comforter but use instead white sheets with lace. Awesome. You have inspired me.

Wow! Where do you store all of the dinnerware that's not in use? Amazing collections, and wonderfully artful combinations.

I think that's the fun of tablescaping as you go. I love your idea of a winter garden. I used to have some cabbage plates. I wish I would've kept them but alas they were sold in my shoppe years ago.

This is breathtaking! I love the greens mixed with the colours in the tablecloth! You are right, those are the "natural" dishes to use. The candlesticks and greenery as a centerpiece looks perfect!

Hi! We're linky neighbors this week!
I love this dramatic table! Your collection of the leaf plates is amazing and I really like the green with that beautiful tablecloth; it's awesome.
I really like the centerpiece candles too, with the little bits of green around them. Stunning!

Is that Ralph Lauren "Allison?" I have always liked master bedroom is done in a RL floral...I've had it for a long time, but no desire to change it. The Bordallo Pinheiro is such a wonderful pattern, and it's so effective with the black. I have a service of Coalport Athlone Brown coming in the next couple of weeks, and I've been visualizing it with the Bordallo. Your beautiful table will be an inspiration. I like the knot napkin ring against the fluffy white flower in the tablecloth...effective element. I don't think that we get Jet Blue...but I could be wrong. I would love for you to come. If you ever have a reason to go to Dallas-Ft. Worth, be sure to go to Dishes From the Past in FW. It's a neat replacement store...not the size of Replacements, I'm sure, but they have great stuff. We have neat estate sales here, and there are weeks that I think that I'm the only one buying china...nutty! Thanks for sharing your marvelous design and for stopping by my post. I'd love it if we could figure out a way to meet. Of course, we'd want to go to one house and then the other...that would only be fair! Cherry Kay

Another fabulous tablescape! The tablecloth is wonderful, as is the very distinctive china set. Wondering about your pretty candlesticks...are those greens you added around the base of each candle? Or are they part of the candlestick? Makes a very striking effect!

Yes, I do believe that all that beautiful Bordallo dinnerware is just perfect, my friend! You really do have a lovely collection of the Bordallo Pinhiero! Thank you so much for sharing this gorgeous table with us! I love this!!

I saw the tureen yesterday at HomeGoods. Wonderful! It did not have a ladle. Did yours have a ladle or did you add one?

Tricia said...

What a fabulous tablecloth! You've shown it off beautifully with the dramatic black candlesticks and lovely green Bordallo dishes. One thing I'm slowly learning from you and other tablescapers is to pick up linens at a good price, even if there's no immediate idea for a table in mind!

Oh it came out great. I am so happy to see green and not snow! I love those dishes, and I am thinking I should have some!
The tablecloth is gorgeous!
Everything you picked to go with it is just lovely! There is hope that Spring will bloom from this winter garden!

What a beautiful set of bordallo pinheiro pieces. I've always admired these cabbage leaf dishes. Only a few pieces in our cupboards, so it is fun to see all the different pieces you have. I need to add more!
My winter garden doesn't looks more brown than green now. ;-)

Absolutely gorgeous. Fantastic dishes! I also have the same tablecloth but I found mine recently at TJMaxx. I actually use it with a set of floral dishes. You wouldn't think floral on floral would work, but I think it did. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

This is my kind of winter garden - enjoy the beauty without having to go out into the cold. What beautiful dishes. I have a tablecloth that is floral on a black background, and I've never been able to come up with a way to use it. You are so creative! Thank you for linking this to Favorite Things. laurie

Such a pretty table, I've always admired the cabbage leaf plates and accessories. This should chase away the winter blahs.
